Set high above the Jurassic Coast with dramatic views over Church Ope Cove, Pennsylvania Castle is a historic clifftop estate offering a private and inspiring setting for corporate retreats, rural off-sites and special celebrations. This exclusive-use venue blends neo-gothic architecture with contemporary comfort, providing a distinctive base for focused work, coastal relaxation and memorable group gatherings.

Accommodation

The estate sleeps up to 48 guests across 23 bedrooms, creating a private and flexible layout for multi-day programmes. The Castle features nine luxury ensuite bedrooms with sea views and elegant interiors. Five clifftop lodges provide ten further bedrooms, each self-contained and designed for longer stays. Cove Lodge offers three additional bedrooms and spacious living areas, while further on-site accommodation can be added for larger groups.

Indoor spaces

Pennsylvania Castle includes four living rooms, a dedicated dining room for 60 guests and a fully equipped kitchen for self-catered stays. The Castle’s interiors combine period features with modern finishes, offering calm and comfortable surroundings for meetings, private dining or breakout discussions. From August to May, the indoor swimming pool provides a unique space for wellness sessions and downtime between meetings. In June and July, the light-filled Orangery is available for up to 100 guests.

Outdoor spaces

The estate’s clifftop grounds offer panoramic coastal views, terraced lawns and quiet garden areas ideal for outdoor meetings, yoga sessions or relaxed drinks receptions. The Clifftop Lodges sit directly above the shoreline, creating a dramatic backdrop for evening gatherings. Direct access to the South West Coast Path and proximity to Church Ope Cove give groups opportunities for walking meetings, coastal exploration and time in nature.

The Castle is hired on a self-catered basis, allowing teams full control of their culinary plans. Bespoke menus can be arranged through carefully selected preferred caterers, delivering restaurant-quality dining that suits the pace and purpose of each event. Spaces such as the dining room, conservatory and outdoor terraces offer flexibility for hosted dinners, networking lunches or relaxed, informal meals.
