Set in a secluded northwest corner of Norfolk, Middleton Castle is a Grade I listed castle for private stays, residential breaks and smaller corporate retreats. Surrounded by rolling farmland and close to the north Norfolk coastline and Sandringham, it offers complete privacy in a historic family home dating back to 1455.
The castle accommodates up to 30 guests across 15 individually styled bedrooms. There's the master suite with adjoining reception room, 11 further doubles and three twins. Three of the double bedrooms feature zip-and-link beds, which can be used to make three more twin rooms if required. With 13 bathrooms, guests have the comfort and flexibility needed for family gatherings, residential retreats and relaxed group stays.
Four versatile reception rooms give groups plenty of space to meet, unwind or gather by the fire. The Great Hall is ideal for shared moments, while the oak-panelled dining room seats up to 30 guests. A billiards room with snooker and board games keeps evenings informal and sociable, while table tennis is available for those looking to expend a little more energy.
Middleton Castle’s moated garden and surrounding estate create a peaceful setting for time outdoors, from slow mornings on the lawns to relaxed drinks around the fire pits. The six-acre lawn can support larger bespoke events, with a 450 square metre marquee footprint or helicopter landing space available.
Groups can self-cater in the family kitchen, complete with AGA, with a separate prep kitchen available for added practicality. Private chef options can also be arranged, making the long dining table a natural focal point for celebrations, residential breaks and private corporate dinners.
As an unique exclusive-use corporate retreat venue in Norfolk, Middleton Castle is well suited to board meetings, away days, product launches and intimate team-building retreats. Its size makes it a strong option for leadership groups, residential strategy breaks and private gatherings where seclusion, character and shared space matter.
Guests can explore northwest Norfolk with woodland and farmland walks, Watatunga Safari Park, seal watching at Blakeney Point, Sandringham, Cobble Hill vineyard, Middleton Golf Club, Hunstanton Golf Club, Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall and Go Ape in Thetford.
By car: Middleton Castle sits in the village of Middleton, around 30 miles from Norwich and within reach of the north Norfolk coast.
By train: King’s Lynn train station is just 3 miles away, providing direct rail access into London in less than 2-hours. Norwich and Stansted airports are also accessible for guests travelling from further afield.
Middleton Castle is best suited to smaller residential corporate groups when overnight accommodation is required. For larger daytime events, the venue can also accommodate marquee-based gatherings for teams of 250+, making it flexible for both intimate offsites and larger company events.
This depends on the format. Overnight stays are better suited to smaller teams, while larger daytime events can be accommodated with a marquee. For groups above the overnight capacity, nearby accommodation options can be explored depending on the size of the group.
The dining room can seat up to 30 guests around one table, making it suitable for boardroom-style meetings or private dining. The Great Hall can be arranged with soft seating or tables and chairs, while two additional reception rooms provide further informal breakout space.
Groups typically combine boardroom-style sessions with breakouts in the different rooms around the castle. Meals can be arranged through partner caterers, while downtime might include on-site activities such as clay pigeon shooting, axe throwing or archery, golf at a local course, or a meal at the village pub.
Yes. Full catering can be organised through the venue’s partner catering team, who can coordinate directly around your schedule. This allows meals and refreshments to be planned around meetings, activities and timings for the wider event.
Clay pigeon shooting, axe throwing and archery can all be arranged on site through external suppliers. These work well for informal team-building, especially when combined with meeting sessions inside the castle.
There are additional accommodation options nearby, although the best fit will depend on the size of the group and the format of the event. For larger bookings, we can help explore nearby accommodation alongside the main castle stay.
Yes. A marquee can be added in the garden for larger events, outdoor dining or daytime corporate gatherings. This makes the venue more flexible for bigger groups, especially where the event does not require everyone to stay overnight.
