Pentrehobyn Hall is a Grade I-listed Jacobean manor in Flintshire, just inside North Wales near Chester. Reached by a long private tree-lined drive and set within 100 acres of estate land, it offers a private and characterful setting for residential stays, family gatherings and special celebrations, with the option to hire the Hall on an exclusive-use basis.
The Hall sleeps up to 18 guests in eight large bedrooms arranged across the first and second floors, with six adjoining bathrooms. Bedrooms range from elegant doubles with period features to flexible family-friendly rooms, including a principal bedroom, a twin room, and upper-floor rooms that can be arranged as twins or doubles. Interiors are finished to a high standard with Italian Frette linen, duck feather pillows and duvets, and bathroom products provided for comfort throughout the stay.
The house combines historic detail with generous entertaining space. At its heart is the oak-panelled central hall, alongside a large drawing room and a dining room, both with open fires. The fully equipped kitchen includes an Aga and space for informal breakfasts and relaxed group meals. On the second floor, a large entertainment area beneath the original oak roof beams provides an inviting space for board games, television and informal gatherings.
Pentrehobyn Hall sits within 100 acres of private parkland, creating a real sense of seclusion for guests. Around the house are three acres of gardens within the surrounding stone wall, while beyond the Llettai there is a south-facing Victorian walled garden with a central lawn. The estate land leads down towards the River Alyn, giving guests plenty of space to walk, unwind and enjoy the setting during a weekend stay or longer celebration.
Guests can choose between self-catering and catered stays. The Hall’s spacious kitchen is fully equipped for private use, making it well suited to relaxed group dining across a weekend or extended stay. For celebrations and hosted occasions, special menus can be arranged through recommended caterers and served in the dining room by waiting staff. This flexibility makes Pentrehobyn Hall equally suitable for informal family stays and more structured private dining.
Pentrehobyn Hall is particularly well suited to private residential stays and special occasions, from milestone birthdays and family get-togethers to intimate celebrations. The combination of exclusive use, generous bedrooms, historic reception rooms and private grounds allows groups to settle in comfortably and celebrate in their own way. The wider estate also offers flexibility for larger parties, with the Coach House available separately or alongside the Hall for additional accommodation.
Pentrehobyn Hall is well placed for guests who want to balance time at the house with days out across North Wales. Snowdonia National Park is within easy reach for mountain walking and scenic drives, while nearby Chester offers historic streets, shopping and well-known visitor attractions. For groups looking to add organised activities to their stay, options in the wider area include Zip World, Bounce Below, Chester Zoo, Theatr Clwyd and Deeside Ice Rink. On-site and nearby experiences such as clay shooting, falconry, archery, mountain hiking, massage treatments and murder mystery evenings can also be arranged. See our Activities page for more ideas.
