Nr Banbury,(90 minutes from London)
Sleeps from 10 to 20 people
This lovley country house is a much loved home away from home. Situated in a picture-perfect village surrounded by glorious countryside it is the ideal venue for a cosy get-together with friends and family, offering a slice of quintessential rural living complete with a walled garden, country kitchen, open fires and a great atmosphere.
The interiors are the result of 20 years of thoughtful restoration and lots of “TLC” by the owners, David and Judith. From the grand 19th century hallway to the warm country kitchen and 17th century snug, every room has a wonderful sense of personal history – the quilt room has quilts made by Judith’s great-grandmother and in one room a 1920’s children’s mural was discovered hidden under old wallpaper and has been lovingly restored and left to delight future guests.
What we love about this lovely country house is both its personality and how personal it is. When you arrive. Tea at the kitchen table with Judith and David is often the first stop whilst you discuss your stay. We are sure that in the first few minutes you will have great ideas about walks, meals and outings as they have lived in the village for many years and are happy to share their knowledge with you
They are also excellent cooks and during your stay you will be treated to food not often found outside of top restaurants with the added pleasure of experiencing them in privacy and at your own pace. It is not unusual to have elegant 7-course dinners in the formal dining room but long lunches under the grape arbor or luxury picnics are also very popular – just choose what ever suits you.
Without even noticing you will feel completely relaxed and at home within minutes. The only difference is that you don’t have to cook or make the beds.
As a guest you may also choose to indulge with a treatment from the in-house Holistic Therapist or discover the delights of Shakespeare country with your own personal guide. The Old Vicarage can also offer clay pigeon shooting for the adventurous
Other attractions in the area include Silverstone Race Circuit and several National Trust properties. David and Judith are happy to help you arrange group transport and have a successful history of entertaining Silverstone’s visitors.
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy good food, friends and the beautiful English countryside then this beautiful country house is for you.
