This perfect little fortress is an absolute gem – a real castle experience but on a comfortable scale. Set in beautiful grounds within easy reach of one of the UK’s best historical and shopping centres with loads to do and explore right on your doorstep.
The family rooms offer a combination of warm bright spaces newly refurbished using traditional and luxurious materials and lots of original historical detail. Curl up by the open fire in winter with a good book or throw the doors of the dining room wide open onto the terrace and have a long summer evening dinner party.
Children will love the turret room snug and there is also a flat screen TV with SKY and DVD player plus a Nintendo Wii to entertain them – grown ups are also allowed and the Wi-Fi will help you stay connected. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga and range cooker and leads onto a crisp, light breakfast room.
The bedrooms are fabulous – ever thought about how much fun a round turret bathroom would be? Luxurious linens and wonderfully comfortable mattresses compliment the individually styled bedrooms each featuring a quirky bit of castle style.
Outside the grounds are as romantic as the castle with woodland and tumbling stream. There is enough room to host a marquee for up to 100 people should you wish to hold a larger event.
The location couldn’t be more perfect. Under 2.5 hours from London and yet in a totally different world filled with beautiful river valleys, ancient monuments and pretty market towns. Just 6 miles out of Bath the castle offers a perfect base to explore the fabulous shopping, culture and heritage that the city offers – why not visit the state of the art spa, our favourite restaurant Demuths or the astonishing roman baths.
The local countryside is dotted with wonderful country pubs and abundant with river and canal walks. Outside of Bath we love Frome and Bradford on Avon for unusual local shopping and of course you shouldn’t leave the area without seeing at least one of the awe inspiring ancient structures or barrows that seem to cover the countryside – we recommend taking the waters at Glastonbury or trying to work out the riddle of Stone Henge. The girls in the office also recommend the Mulberry outlet store just a few minutes down the road at Shepton Mallet!
If you are looking for an impressive castle experience which is perfectly located for just about every activity and extremely comfortable then this stunning petite castle is the perfect choice for you.
