0215 Castle by the Sea

A dream come true - win a stay at this castle with Tyrrells

Nr Clevedon,(15 minutes from Bristol)
Sleeps 16+

An exciting addition to our collection this castle set on the coast surrounded by a golf course and with its own heated indoor pool really has it all. If you have ever imagined watching the sun set over the sea from your own castle turret then this is your dream come true.

With foundations that date back to the Iron Age the buildings we see today originate in the 17th Century – however the current owners have considered well how this fabulously unique castle would best suit the modern family and have added considerable modern luxuries to the inherent historical charm.

There is a central keep that acts as a warm hub with a large family kitchen and big lounge which houses a 50” Plasma screen and big gas fire as well as the indoor pool with pretty secluded sun terrace. This is ringed by 8 separate turrets – these have been cleverly converted - five offer wildly romantic and private bedrooms, another is a games and cinema room with kitchen and some can be used as fabulous spaces for large group dining, wedding receptions or corporate team building.

The bedrooms are all individual and many have carefully integrated aspects of the historical character of the castle into their decoration with quirky shaped spaces and stone walls. There are 8 bedrooms in total and 6 are en-suite.

The local area and castle grounds offer a wealth of things to do. Immediately accessible is the golf course and 2 acres of grounds in which you could hold your own archery tournament or maybe have a yoga lesson in house or some delicious spa treatments.

The sea is just a healthy 20 minute walk away – perfect after a night of good food and wine, or explore the traditional delights of a Victorian pier and seaside pursuits like crazy golf in the local village. For a little bit more sophistication there is clay shooting and a great equestrian centre just a few minutes from the house. If you can’t give up the city lights Bristol is just a short drive and towns like the nearby Clevedon offer a mix of charming boutique shops and high street favourites.

Further afield are the Brecon Beacons and the welsh coast accessible in summer via a boat trip – or take a sightseeing boat right down to Cornwall. You are also within easy access of Bath with its famous shopping and tourist attractions, Cheltenham’s racing and the stunning Glastonbury Tor, Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge and Blagdon Lakes. Look out also for the Severn Bore which occurs just up river from the castle – a stunning natural phenomena well worth booking well in advance for to see if you can catch a glimpse of it.

If you need plenty of entertainment within a spectacular and totally unique setting then this stunning castle should be top of your list.
